Joy Simmons and her daughter Janiyah Lewis join us to talk about the need for blood and the effects of a low blood supply, especially for patients like Janiyah battling Sickle Cell Anemia.

3 year old Vivian loves coloring, singing, and dancing. For the past year, she has been battling Leukemia, a blood cancer. Blood transfusions helped her keep her red cell levels up while going through chemo, a precious gift when she needed it the most.

11 year old Kelsey dreams of someday attending art school in Paris. However, she faces complications due to Sickle Cell Anemia. In her journey so far, she has required 23 life-saving blood transfusions from carefully matched donors.
